Is Your Gun Registered?

"Can I bring a gun to class that is registerered to someone else or does it have to be registered to me?"

"I have one of my father's old guns and it's not registered. Is it okay to use that?"

Listen, I have 27 guns. Some I inherited, some I bought, some I traded for, a couple were given to me. Do you know how many of them are registered? None. Not one. And neither are yours.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GUN REGISTRATION IN TEXAS.

Or most of the rest of the United States, for that matter. I know why you believe guns have to be "registered" to be legal: You watch Law and Order, CSI, and the movies. Movies are made in California. A lot of TV is made in New York City. In those places, guns are registered, or you have to have a license or gun ownership card to possess one. That's true of a few other places as well. Places like Illinois or New Jersey. But not here in Texas, thank God.

The anti-gun crowd, the media, even the Federal Government wishes your guns were registered. The Firearm Owners Protection Act passed in 1986 specifically prohibits the Federal Government and the States from establishing a record of firearm ownership.

But what about that form you fill out each time you buy a gun from a dealer, or have one transferred from an out-of-state online purchase? Isn't this firearms registration?

No, it's not. It's a record of sale that goes in the dealers file and no further. The dealer must keep that record for twenty years. And, yes, that form may be used to trace a firearm used in a crime to the orginal purchaser. But, the original purchaser does not have to record any sale or trade he or she makes to an individual.

Don't be fooled by the biased media, TV or the movies. Learn the facts about gun ownership by doing your own research.

Texas Hunter's Education

Hunting season is well underway. Residents of Texas who were born after September 1, 1972 are required to complete a Hunter Education course before hunting in Texas. The Texas Hunter Education certification is honored in all 50 states and in most countries around the world. Some states require Hunter's Ed certification regardless of age. We're providing several opportunities to complete this certification process during the month of October. We teach the second and final part of the Home Study Course. Check out the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department website for details.

Taurus 24/7 G2

We have long been a fan of the Taurus 24/7 and recently picked up some of the new G2 models for evaluation and resale. The Generation 2 gun retains the features we liked about the original 24/7, with some added features. It's available in 9mm, .40 cal. and .45 ACP in the full=size, compact version and a long-slide version.

The 24/7 features its exclusive “Strike Two” trigger system, plus a new trigger safety, balanced spring pressure, low-profile adjustable rear sights for windage and elevation, ambidextrous magazine release and Picatinny rail. It also includes contoured ambidextrous thumb rests, finger indexing Taurus Memory Pads, polymer body, polymer grip with metallic inserts, and three interchangeable backstraps, which allow the shooter to customize the feel of the gun.

Standard safety features for the G2 Series include a vertical loaded chamber indicator, firing pin block, and Taurus Security System. Additional safety features include firing pin cocking indicator, ambidextrous slide stop, ambidextrous manual decocker latch and ambidextrous manual safety latch.

We have them in stock for a limited time at only $415 plus tax.
